[Toy News] Play Arts Kai Figures of 2013

Play Arts Kai logo by Square-Enix

Square-Enix is at work with lots of PAK figures. Most of them are from other titles like Halo, Tekken, Batman, Metal Gear, etc. This is great, but they kinda neglecting their own titles when it comes to action figures. At least they made new figures from Kingdom Hearts 3D and Final Fantasy VII.

Here are the list of the upcoming PAK figures for 2013 (or 2014?) that appears on my radar. Some of them have confirmed release month. I'm not a hardcore PAK collector, I just want to get the figures from games/movies that I know and like. I also like cool-looking figures :D

[UPDATE 07.19.13]
- Added Classic Suit Batman and Joker (Batman: Arkham City)

* = Picking them up... probably

The question is... "Where's the Birth By Sleep figures?"

It seems that they are releasing in reverse. And it makes me even more hesitant to pick up the old Play Arts figures because these figures look great! Hope they make Barret and Cid soon.

Tomb Raider
Lara Croft  Release Date: April, 2013 *
Accessories: Bow and arrow, Shotgun, Handgun, Ice axe, 3 Extra hands

I'm picking up the game as well. And I can't wait to display her side by side with Nathan Drake of Uncharted (picking one up soon lol!)

One of the most badass figures - and game - is coming this year, February or Q1 2013 I assume. I think the white version (and other colored versions) will be a pre-order extra, at least in Japan

What, (STILL) no Nightwing?

yomithejester101 from deviantART gave me a tip on Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn figures. And it appears that these two are US release only. Thanks for the tip buddy!

Batman: The Dark Knight Trilogy

Square-Enix's first movie licenced figures. I'm only interested in Joker, because Heath Ledger as the Joker is awesome. RIP

Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Kazuya Mishima Release Date: February 2013 *
Accessories: Extra pair of hands

Jun Kazama Release Date: February 2013 *
Accessories: Extra pair of hands

These figures lack accessories but I will be expecting more figures from this title.

Halo 4
Master Chief Release Date: January 2013 *
Accessories: MA5D Assault Rifle, T-25 Plasma Pistol, Extra pair of hands

Accessories: Z-130 Supressor, M6H Magnum, Extra pair of hands

While I didn't play this game because I don't have an XBOX 360, I will still be picking up Master Chief and Sarah Palmer. Because Master Chief reminds me of the Doom Guy in appearance and Sarah Palmer wears white armor

Medal of Honor: Warfighter
Preacher Release Date: May, 2013 *
Accessories: LaRue OBR, SIG-Sauer P226, 2 Extra pair of hands, Display stand/base

Official painted prototype figure photos revealed at TGS 2012

I've just noticed this 2012 full CG movie after this great looking action figure pops out of nowhere.

  1. I love this post. Since I'm a noob PAK collector starting last August, I have been following PAK new release. Again as I mentioned before Raiden is absolutely one gorgeous piece of... plastic... no! Awesomeness! When I first saw Tron!Sora and Riku, my jaw dropped. Love the Tron style.
Like you, I'm disappointed they didn't release any Nightwing. I like Nightwing... but Robin will do... for now.

    1. I'm a noob collector too. Started last November. But I know PA figures for a long time but don't have time and cash to buy one lol. Now I'm catching up and it's hard. Yeah, they must make a Nightwing figure, coz he's the original Robin :D

    4. There's a great chance that we will see more MGS V PAKs. Yeah the AC figures looks great and makes me think of getting one.

And Noctis PAK is obviously 100% confirmed and he along with Stella Nox Fleuret (i hope) will be my first priority and day one purchase LOL :D

  2. Need to save up for these new releases. I wonder why they keep releasing other versions of the same characters though, like Yuffie and Vincent (not to mention Cloud has like 6 versions already o_o). Wish they'd come up with more characters from FF.

Nice blog, by the way! :)

    1. Thanks!

Yeah, Cloud has the most number of figure versions. They release figures according to their popularity rate. I wouldn't mind if they re-release the old FF figs into better articulated and highly detailed PAKs (as long as they're at accurate scale with each other and not big like the FFXIII and MGS figs)

    2. That seems to be the problem with Play Arts. They're not consistent with the scale. It's evident in the FF13 releases. It's a pain to display them side by side!

By the way bro, do check out my blog. Just did a review of Lightning 13-1 and 13-2. And nice to meet a fellow collector here in cyberspace! http://dynamichero.blogspot.com
