So We Watched Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice

Finally we managed to watch a movie where Superman and Batman are fighting each other, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The word "Justice" in the title suggests Justice League obviously, starting DC's cinematic universe to battle Marvel's movie universe. We watched the movie last Thursday. I always like to watch movies late, I don't like waiting in a long line to buy tickets. Now about this movie...

The movie is filled with CG effects, explosions and destruction. The heavy usage of effects is necessary for this movie, but I think it's overused, remember this is just a man and a Kryptonian fighting... and well there's Wonder Woman and Doomsday (dude's spoiled in the trailer).

BvS is 2 hour+ long and most of the scenes, are just some unnecessary conversations/dialogues, dreams/premonition scenes making the movie like a tangled rope, it's hard to untangle and put it in a straight line.

BTW this is a dark and serious movie, don't expect any funny scenes on this one.

This is more like a Batman movie. The movie started during the events of Man of Steel where Superman (Henry Cavill) and General Zod fighting in Metropolis and destroying everything. Bruce Wayne/Batman (Ben Affleck) arrives in the scene and witnessing the death and destruction the two Kryptonians brought to the city. He saw his building collapse along most of his employees, this made him bear a grudge against Superman. Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne did a great job in this movie, in my opinion.

Superman's part is about his struggles for fitting in on the world he live in and people not accepting him. He just want to save lives in his own way. There are many times I thought he's turning evil in this movie, like INJUSTICE. Another of his concerns this time as Clark Kent is about Batman's brand of justice.

Something is off with the main villain Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg). He's a psycho or a mad genius. All I can say in Eisenberg's performance, unless intentional, is he's a cringe fest or a comic relief that made me chuckle a few times especially while his snot is coming out from his nose.

Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) is well accepted in the movie while she only does is she made Bruce Wayne have a hard time getting some important info and she helped Superman and Batman fight Doomsday. I got to admit she captured the look of Wonder Woman and she did great in this movie.

The Batmobile scene is intense but a single Wilhelm Scream ruined it and made me laugh, the scream is feint but I still heard it.

The fight scene that we've been waiting for, Batman vs. Superman is awesome, I don't want to spoil this one in case you haven't watched the movie yet.

This is my favorite part of the movie is Batman, single handedly taking down a group of thugs. It's like playing an Arkham game, probably this scene is inspired by that game.

The movie's approach to realism is almost accurate in real life. If there are real Superheroes, they can accidentally kill innocent lives or criminals while trying to save lives and fight crime in the process. Just look at the city's destruction and the goons that Batman unintentionally killed (or severely injured) while driving his Batmobile or flying his Batwing and firing at enemies with its mini guns.

I think this movie is great and deserves a high rating. Please don't compare this to Marvel that mostly have a toned down violence (except the Rated R movie, Deadpool) in their movies (blame Disney for that). I like Marvel comics (which is more violent) and its movies too but DC can do its own style and produce more mature superhero movies (with few child-friendly ones) to separate the two comic book companies apart from each other. Well that's my opinion in this movie. 'Till the next movie guys! :D Oh they'll probably be fighting Darkseid in the Justice Leage movie.

Cheers!
