So I Watched Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi

After reading and watching about EA's money grubbing scheme in Star Wars Battlefront 2. My interest on the Star Wars franchise got another dent. Still, I watched the next episode in the Star Wars series. I wasn't expecting much so that I won't get disappointed if it sucked.

The story of The Last Jedi continues exactly where The Force Awakens left of. The resistance are on the run. Poe, the hotshot, after being successful to distract the enemy and destroying the turrets of their destroyer, went over his head and initiates a counter attack on the First Order. The resistance won and made their escape, but lost a lot of men in the process. Meanwhile Rey, who've just met Luke Skywalker, gave back his Lightsaber. Luke receives it and then tosses it just like useless trash. I'll end the story bits here, watch the movie if you want to know more.

The movie borrowed and mimicked some story bits and scenes from The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and a little bit from The Phantom Menace. Still, the movie is original and from this point, the new Star Wars trilogy starts to stand on its own when it comes to story without straying to far from the Star Wars formula. But there are lots of stuff going on in this movie probably because they combined the three previous Star Wars episodes that I mentioned into one.

The movie is funnier this time with simple but effective jokes and comedic scenes that will make you chuckle and laugh, unlike some of the cheesy comedy of The Force Awakens. The movie will also throw some blindside punches that will surprise and shock you. And those shockers are awesome.

The actors played their role very well and I like the space and terrain combat and Lightsaber fights. The movie have some really amazing scenes and they applied some new stuff when it comes to manipulating the Force which comes out to be pretty awesome.

As for the sounds and visual effects, mostly they're pretty much standard the only new thing that I found that is kinda new when it comes to visuals is the ground combat in the final parts of the movie, because it's a new planet that's covered in salt but underneath, the soil is blood-red in color and have Pokemon-like creatures.

So do I like this movie? The answer is yes! It's better than Episode 7. The story is great with some pretty effective twists and humor. The main characters are better this time and the new supporting characters are not annoying in my opinion. The new planets looks great and still retains the same old sound effects. I definitely recommend this movie so watch it especially if you're a fan of Star Wars.

Cheers!
